Our careful approach to pediatric care ensures the best treatment options.
Unfortunately, children are more susceptible to many types of orthopedic injuries due to the fact that their bodies are still growing. There are also orthopedic conditions that are seen beginning at birth or shortly after. At Orange County Orthopedic Center, we provide quality and comforting care for patients of all ages.
- Pediatric care often involves different treatment approaches
- The goal of pediatric care is to make sure future growth is not inhibited
Common conditions – There are some conditions that appear to be a problem but are actually just things that typically resolve with time, like flat feet and toe walking. Some of the more common orthopedic conditions that require attention include club foot, scoliosis, gait abnormalities, bone infections, cerebral palsy, juvenile arthritis, and spina bifida. These types of conditions, and many more, require a comprehensive approach to manage symptoms, treat the condition when possible, and help your child to live comfortably.
Injuries – The amount of activity performed by children makes them susceptible to all types of overuse injuries and sports injuries. These injuries can affect bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and growth plates. Running, basketball, football, baseball, tennis, skating, and horseback riding are among the more common causes of sports and overuse injuries. Treatment for these injuries depends on the cause and exact injury, but can include medications, icing, bracing, rest, elevation and sometimes surgery.
